`Casa del sole` is a comfortable house, on three levels: a ground floor,

a main floor, a top floor, and might be easily split in three 80-sq.mt units.

The ground floor (an 80-

sq.mt. open space) might also be used as a workshop or fitness room and is always fresh in summer, now there is

a double bed and a sofa bed, a bathroom (all bathrooms have a wc, a wash basin, a bidet, and a shower) and two

utility rooms, one with a washing machine.
The main floor,presently the core of the whole house,has a dining-

living room with a kitchen corner and a fireplace, two bedrooms (a twin bedded one, and a double bedroom) a

bathroom, and a big terrace with a breath-taking view, ideal to have all your meals, sunbathe, and relax for many

months a year.
On the top floor there is a big open-space room, with a bedroom side (now there is a double

bed and a single bed), a bathroom, a baby-food corner, and a `relax` corner with a sofa and a tv set.
It has a

small balcony (but not that small: there is plenty of room for a breakfast table and a sun bed).This is the part

of the house I like best:I think it would be ideal for honeymooners.
By the way, arranging a daily maid

service wouldn t be a problem, and there are some good restaurants, and two tennis courts, nearby.
The whole

house is served by a central-heating system which can also be used for each floor, separately. No need of any air-

conditioning system, thanks to its position. There is no anti-burglar system but it can be easily installed, or you

can contact the `La Ronda` security service which regularly inspects, all year round, the nearby holiday village

(the area is very quiet, anyway, ideal for relaxing family holidays)
The house is built on a 3,750.00 sq.mt.

plot of land, where you can still build a smaller unit (around 50 sq.mt., according to present regulations) and

there is a lot of room for a swimming pool.
The area is protected by strict environmental regulations and

getting all building licences was very difficult, mine is one of the few new buildings in the area. For the

same reason it was to be built in a rather traditional style.
The property has a main entrance along the

main road, but a rear gate might also be opened, as I am legally entitled to pass through my neighbour s property,

in order to reach an alley which connects to the road leading to the area of the Christ statue. (certainly the

most important Maratea`s landmark) .
With a swimming pool and some minor improvements the house might become a

romantic `hotel de charme`; the area, as I said, can be compared to Portofino, and its marina has many important

guests, in summer.
The house is nested on a hill (450 mt. a.s.l.) overlooking the beautiful sea of Maratea, not far

from the famous Christ statue, in a quiet, but not isolated, position. Its `natural` terrace garden has many Mediterranean

plants and flowers. From its terraces you can see the mountains sloping down to the rocky coastline, from the Gulf of

Policastro to the Calabria coast, while breathing a blend of marine breeze and healthy mountain air. The landscape of this

part of the Tyrrhenian coast is similar to the world famous (and more crowded�) Amalfi coast , full of a somehow na�ve

natural beauty, still undiscovered. Thanks to its very mild climate this is the ideal place for a holiday, starting as early

as the first days of April, till the end of October.
Maratea is a main town with many locations, scattered here and there

along a 32-km. long coastline and on its green hills . From the villa, the main town can be reached by car along the main

road (a 5-10 minute drive), or taking a pleasant stroll along a panoramic - and romantic - pedestrian path (15-20 minutes),

or via a regular bus service, all year round. If you prefer to relax at home in summer evenings you can also enjoy live-music

entertainment from a first class holiday village (about 500 mt. from the house), where you can also go,in summer,and get

food (there is a small market, other shops are in the nearby location of Massa- the main town has a variety of shops

and supermarkets).If you feel like walking downhill and climbing uphill on the way back you can also reach the nearest beach

via a pedestrian path crossing the holiday village (2/3 Km.). See also .maratea.it.
